On Your Porch

Yesterday morning, I went for a run.  It was cold and bright.  I did one of my usual routes, down around the Capitol and back, about 2 miles or so.  It did not feel good.  My legs fought me the whole way, my breath caught in my chest, my heart pounded constantly.

I wouldn't call myself a runner.  Runners are fluid.  Graceful. At ease.  I'm envious of them whenever they pass me, their stride long, the breath measured.  There's such beauty in being a runner like that.

And then there's me, panting and spitting while I struggle with my two miles.

  1. I am the same exact way - not a runner in the least. Probably one of my least favorite things to do. Try something else for cardio!
