Fun and Free Summer Stuff in DC

It's that time of year when all you want to do is be outdoors and hopefully not totally destroy your bank account.  Which is why we're celebrating all the fun and free summer activities to do in DC!

There are obviously one million other things that I've neglected to list, but these are some of my favorites.  Let me know if you get to any!

Free Workouts

Pilates in the Park - Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 5:30pm.  Taking place right in Farragut Square, this is a great way to get your workout in right after work.

Yoga @ Maketto - Sundays, 4-5pm.  A free yoga class on the roofdeck of one of the city's hottest new restaurants.  Get there.

Fitness in the Front - Too many to list.  VIDA and DCBFIT have joined up with Capitol Riverfront to bring you fitness classes ranging from yoga to boot camp to zumba.

Free Music

Friday Night Concert Series at Yards Park - Top of my list is to get to at least one of these this summer.  It seems like the perfect way to kick off the weekend.  Plus the bands are good.

Jazz in the Garden - A DC staple, you have to do this at least once a summer.  It's sort of terrible because it's packed with interns and you can no longer BYOB, but it's also wonderful so sit in the Sculpture Garden listening to incredibly talented artists.  And that sangria is delicious.

Outdoor Movies

Golden Cinema - Fridays at sundown. This is a cool spot as it's right in the middle of downtown.  There are also always giveaways and prizes.

NoMa Summer Screen - Wednesdays at sundown. Dance movies.  You don't need to know anything else.

Capitol Riverfront Outdoor Movie Series - Thursdays at sundown. It's on the water at sunset and they're showing "People's Choice" movies this year.  Everything about this screams summertime.

Farmers' Markets

Eastern Market Farmers' Market  - Tuesdays, 3-7pm.  Eastern Market is always there, including the weekends, but Tuesdays bring out some special vendors.  It's a great spot to stop after work to grab goodies for dinner.

Dupont Circle Farmers' Market - Sundays, 8:30am-1pm.  This is one of the most vibrant markets in the city.  It gets packed, so I suggest getting there early and having a game plan.

H Street Farmers' Market - Saturdays, 9am-noon.  So many good vendors!  This is my neighborhood, so I'm partial to it.  I suggest grabbing coffee from Vigilante to have while you browse.
