This weekend was bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

DT's best friend from home was in town and staying with us, so we had to show him a good time.  Friday night we grilled dinner at home, had some beers, and then headed out to meet a couple friends at Bar Pilar.  If you find yourself there, order the "Charles Is Not In Charge".  Mezcal, aperol, and peach soda make for the most refreshing cocktail I've had in a long time.

After a drink, we headed to U Street Music Hall to see Miami Horror, who put on a great show.  It was fun and dancey and everyone had a good time.  After dancing for a couple hours, more food was in order, so we made a late-night stop at Taylor for sandwiches and risotto balls.

Saturday morning was lazy, but we eventually made our way over to the pool for more hang time with friends and more drinks, all before heading over to Red Rocks for another friend's 30th birthday party.  There were cupcakes and happy hour prices, so I was happy.  And then the rainstorm rolled in and we had an incredible view of all the lightning.  It was epic.

That eventually turned into a dance party, as it is wont to do with us.  We had to duck out and run across the street to meet up with DT's friends from his study abroad program, one of whom was in town from Cairo.  More drinks, more food.  Rinse and repeat.

Sunday morning was equally as lazy as Saturday, but we got our acts together to make it to Cafe Berlin's Sunday pig roast, which was just as delicious as it sounds.  Suckling pig, German potato salad, red cabbage, dumplings, a liter of beer, all topped off with apple strudel.

As you've probably guessed, I'm quite a bit heavier and my wallet is quite a bit lighter after this weekend.  But all of the calories and the dollars were well worth it.

And now, a 4-day week before heading north for a trip home through the 4th of July!
