Punta Cana, Just Because

Is there a greater feeling than having your toes in the sand?

There was a sandbar just off the beach that we swam out to.  There were a couple of pools out there that were warmed by the sun.

Between being in our late 20s and living away from our families, DT and I have to do a fair amount of traveling, whether it's for a wedding, a bachelor(ette) party, a family event, the holidays, etc.  While all of that stuff is amazing and we love doing it, we think it's really important to do a vacation every once in awhile for absolutely no reason at all.  Think of it as adult spring break.

This past Presidents' Day Weekend, we headed off to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with no plans, no agendas, and no obligations.  We flew direct from BWI because layovers are my nightmare and stayed at Catalonia Bavaro Beach, Golf, & Casino Resort.  It was our first experience with an all-inclusive package, and I learned that bringing your own cup is really the best thing you can do.  It cuts way down on the number of trips you have to make to the bar.  People were obsessed with our Mason jar mugs and mad that they hadn't thought to do that themselves.

We didn't do much and it was perfect.  Most days, we had a leisurely breakfast, got ready, went to the beach, laid around and read, went for a walk, broke for lunch, got some cocktails, swam, relaxed in the room, went to one of the bars, and then had dinner.  Everything was very casual.  DT went sailing one day, but other than that, we were beach bums.

And then we came back to DC and it was 9 degrees.
