Four on Thursday
Well, I'm exhausted. I ducked out of work early yesterday (with permission of course) to meet up with V, my best friend since the age of 6, who was in town for business. We grabbed drinks and an early dinner at Pound the Hill (delicious and that back patio is an oasis) before she had to head to the airport and back to Boston.
Afterwards, DT and I headed over to NoMa for their outdoor movie series to meet up with K and another college friend (this one in town to work on her thesis) and watch True Grit.
If you haven't been to the NoMa outdoor movies (and I hadn't) and you live in DC, do so immediately. It's amazing. Not too crowded, great food trucks or pack a picnic, and it's byob. The weather was gorgeous to boot. Next week they're showing The Hunger Games, so you can get your Katniss Everdeen on.
But let's get serious and talk clothes.
Calvin Klein Striped Mini-Dress w/ Belt via Piperlime, on sale $70.99
Perfect summer dress. Wear to work, wear to drinks, wear to dinner, wear to brunch, wear all the time. The slightly asymmetrical neckline is a nice detail, as is the white belt. And you know I never met a stripe I didn't love.
Oasis Broderie Striped Tee via Asos, $33.94
I have a new found appreciation for texture and different materials. Rather than print/pattern-mixing, I prefer to texture-mix. A lace tee is an easy and fun way to start. Wear with denim now, and maybe top with a leather jacket when fall gets here.
J. Crew factory Sweeping Stones Necklace, on sale $34.50
Still on the statement necklace bandwagon? Good, me too. This one from J. Crew Factory has a bright, fun color palette and uses stones of different size and shape for something a little different.
Asos Faux Fur Lapel Collar, $40.73
Hello lover. Faux fur is a recent favorite of mine, ever since DT's mom bought me an awesome vest that I wore pretty much daily. I love this lapel collar that you can drape over any and every coat that you own. Yes please.
