DT and I stuck around Topsfield for a few nights, visiting his aunt and uncle. We spent the day sailing (pictures coming tomorrow) and at night headed to Castle Hill and the Crane Estate for their summer concert series. It's like Jazz in the Garden, but better, because you can bring your own booze. We grabbed some sandwiches, made some margaritas, and plopped down on a blanket to hang out. The property is amazing, covering an absurd amount of acreage, on the ocean in Ipswich. There is a huge rolling lawn that leads right down to the water, where we watched the sunset. The band was really fun - a mix of blues and rock. They played some covers (Grateful Dead) and a few originals. Apparently they're big in the area and Dan's uncle had heard them a few times before.
It was a great way to spend a Thursday night. The crowd was fun, with lots of families, kids running around everywhere, and teenagers sneaking off to make out in the woods. Good old-fashioned fun!
