Sail Away With Me Honey

Boston in the distance

As I mentioned yesterday, DT and I had the opportunity to go sailing out of Marblehead on his uncle's boat while we were up North.  We drove down from Maine, crashed at their place for the night, and were on the boat by 1pm the next day.  Now, I'm not much of a sailor, but this day was pretty near perfect.  It was sunny, warm, and breezy.

Everything I know about sailboats, I've learned from the Real Housewives.  In my head, going out on a sailboat means you lay on the deck in a bikini, drinking champagne, and having cute cabana boys bring you lunch.  This was not the case.  I had to do things.  With ropes.  And avoid getting clocked in the head by the boom (jib? are they the same thing?).  While it wasn't the pleasure cruise I had in mind, it was super fun.  We sailed out of the Boston Yacht Club, into Manchester Harbor, around a few islands out there, got a great view of Boston, and back into Marblehead.  There were beers and sandwiches and snacks.  Everything with food involved is a-ok in my book.  Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
